Question:
Hello CQD,
Thanks for maintaining this forum. I have a question about ground rod length. If an 8-foot ground rod is installed and it is not driven flush with the ground, does it meet the NEC requirements?
Thanks for any clarification.

Answer:
Hi Mark,
If a ground rod is installed as a grounding electrode, a minimum of 8 feet of rod is required in contact with the soil, and it should be driven, unless it meets specific installation conditions provided in Section 250.53(A)(4). This section specifies the minimum length required to be in contact with the earth.
