Once you twist and Chris the ground wires in a box do you need to maintain the 6-inch rule for each individual conductor or just the one that attaches to the device

Hey Matt thanks for your question. Yes. At least 6 inches of "free conductor" must be provided for splices or connections as stated in 300.14. Nothing in Article 250 allows a shorter conductor length for equipment grounding conductors, but it is probably done more than we are aware of. The measurement is taken from the raceway or cable sheath so it seems it would not be required for any "jumpers" in the box.
