Question:
Hello, and thank you for providing the CQD, many of morning discussion over coffee have occurred because of this forum. My co-workers and I thoroughly enjoy it! My question is regarding electrical equipment dedicated space. Are any/all electrical conduits permitted in the electrical equipment dedicated space or is it limited to only those conduits associated with that specific equipment? Thanks again, Randy Leonard
A
Answer:
Hello Randy, thanks for submitting this interesting question. Section 110.26(E)(1)(a) prohibits the following from being installed in electrical equipment dedicated space: Piping, Ducts, Leak protection apparatus, or other equipment foreign to the electrical installation. The intent of this requirement is to preserve the area directly above and below specific electrical equipment for future conduit or cable installations. Installing a conduit or raceway from an unassociated electrical system in the dedicated space of a panelboard contradicts the intent of this code Section.
