Question:

Hello Code Friends! Can a pendant style (hanging) LED luminaire be hard wired with flexible cord on both ends? The luminaires are installed at 10’ above the work area, and they do not move easily. Thanks Eric Harrington.

Answer:

Hi Eric, Section 400.10(A) provides the flexible cords/cables uses permitted. Specifically, Section 400.10(A)(1) permits flexible cords for the wiring of pendants and Section 400.10(A)(2) permits flexible cords for the

wiring of luminaires. Section 410.62(C)(1)(a)-(c) provides additional guidance on when flexible cord is permitted for LED luminaire wiring.
