Question:
Hello CQD, I will be replacing an outdated meter enclosure, and the service entrance conductors will not be long enough to terminate to the new enclosure lugs. Does the
Code permit service entrance conductors to be spliced in a meter enclosure? Thanks, John Michaels
A
Answer:
Good morning, John, thanks for the question. Yes, service-entrance conductors are permitted to be spliced in accordance with Section 230.46. Connectors, splicing devices and termination blocks are required to be listed. Pressure connectors, and power distribution blocks are required to be marked “SUITABLE FOR USE ON THE LINE SIDE OF THE SERVICE EQUIPMENT”. See Section 110.14 for more information on terminations, connectors, and splices.
