Question:
Good Morning,
A follow up question concerning the use of EMT conduit for grounding. When using EMT for grounding, are the fittings required to be listed? If so, conduit fittings were not required to be listed until the 2017 code. If you are using existing conduit installed before 2017 are you still permitted to use EMT for grounding without using listed fittings?

Answer:
Hello Ed and thanks for the question. Yes, EMT is recognized as an equipment grounding conductor in Section 250.118(4). Section 358.6 indicates that EMT, factory elbows, and associated fittings shall be listed.
