Question:
Hi Code Friends, my coworker tells me that the code allows us to connect the Grounding Electrode Conductor from a ground rod to the 1” Service EMT on the outside of the house. I was always taught all GECs are required to be connected in the Service Disconnect. Does the Code really allow the ground rod GEC to connect to the service entrance raceway? All the best, Steve Warsh
A
Answer:
Hello Steve, thanks for the question. Yes, the GEC from the ground rod could be connected to a nonflexible grounded service raceway, if the ground rod serves as a supplemental electrode as required in Sections 250.53(A) or 250.53(D).
