Question:
Good morning CQD. The question from September 7
th is about a panel being surface mounted on the outside of a house. Wouldn’t NM Cable be prohibited from being installed inside that panel as it is a damp location? Thanks, Thomas Heindl

Answer:
Hello Thomas, thanks for the comments on the September 7
th CQD. The enclosure for a panelboard installed on the exterior of a building would need to be weatherproof as well as, comply with the rest of Section 312.2. In general, the interior of a listed weatherproof enclosure is not considered a damp or wet location. NM Cable could be installed in a weatherproof enclosure however, getting the cable into the enclosure may be tricky, as the cable would need to be routed/installed so it will not be exposed to a wet or damp location.
