Question:
Hello Charlie, Article 700.16 requires redundant lamps for luminaires providing emergency illumination specifically, egress lighting. With the advent of LED luminaires, I can’t seem to get any proof from manufacturer’s that if the driver of an LED luminaire fails, there will still be illumination. How can we comply with Section 700.16 with an LED luminaire if there are no dual driver LED luminaires? Best, Robert Fitch.
A
Answer:
Hi Robert, thanks for participating in the CQD. Section 700.16 does not require redundant batteries, control circuitry or LED drivers for compliance.
