Question:
Hello Code Friends. Where in the
NEC® does it specify what loads are required/permitted to be connected to the Emergency System, and what loads are required/permitted to be connected to the Legally Required Standby System? Thanks, Mitch Turner
A
Answer:
Hi Mitch. Article 700 and Article 701 provide minimum requirements for the wiring of Emergency and Legally Required Standby Standby systems and branch circuits respectively. The NEC® does not specify which loads are connected to each of these systems. Guidance on what loads get connected to these systems can be found in Section 2702 of the International Building Code (IBC).
