Question:
Good morning, I am working on a lab project where the client desires maximum flexibility, so the architect proposed a flexible cord connection from a ceiling service panel to a lab casework-mounted disconnect switch. Is this allowed by
NEC® or any other codes you are aware of? Regards, Oleg Bulshteyn
A
Answer:
Hi Ogel, there certain conditions where flexible cords can be used for the connection of utilization equipment. Sections 400.10(A)(6), (A)(7) and (A)(8) provide some installations where the use of flexible cord is permitted that may apply to your installation. Also see Section 410.12(1)-(7) to rule out any of the use not permitted for flexible cord.
