According to the Dec.14, 2006 edition of Building Online's eUpdate, "Across America, thousands of union electrical workers and contractors are reaching greater heights of on-the-job safety, thanks to a unique national partnership joining the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), the U.S. Labor Department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and others within the electrical transmission and distribution industry."

The alliance has worked to identify the causes of and ways to prevent on-the-job fatalities and injuries for those in the electrical transmission and distribution industry.
