Question:
Greetings,
Where in the Code does it say that electrical work has to be neat and workmanlike? An electrician did some work in out panelboard over the weekend and the wiring inside looked like a rats nest. It did not look like it was done by someone qualified. Your comments would be helpful.

Hi Joe,
The general requirement is provided in Section 110.12 which indicates that electrical equipment be installed in a neat and workmanlike manner. There are several other similar requirements for mechanical execution of work contained in the Chapter 7 and 8 articles of the NEC. What constitute good workmanship in electrical construction is often in the eyes of the beholder, but it is directly related to training and experience. Good workmanship usually looks good too.
