Question:
Good Morning CQD,
I have a pool pump and pool heater 18' from the swimming pool and it sets behind the fence that protects the pool. Does the pump and heater need to be GFCI protected?
Thank You.

Answer:
Hello Mike,
Based on the information provided in the question the pool pump motor and the heater pool heater require GFCI protection. See Sections 680.21 and 680.22. GFCI protection is required for gas-fired heaters as indicated in Section 680.28.
