Question:

Hello CQD,

In reference to your response for the question on May 28, 2021, I agree regarding your reference to 300.5(D)(3), but according to 340.12(1) UF cable is not permitted for use as service entrance cable.  Therefore 300.5(D)(3) should never apply to UF cable unless there is a state specialty code which provides an exception allowing the use of UF cable as service entrance cable.

Thank you Matt, You are correct. There should have been a clear response about the UF cable burial marking requirements. It is not a requirement, but it is an option that many use.
