Question:

Greetings and thank you for this forum. With the 2020 NEC Article 230.71(B) now restricting the " six switch rule" of service disconnecting means mounted in a single enclosure does this now require a single service disconnecting means ahead of a suitable for service equipment listed power outlet RV pedestal with the standard 50, 30, 20 ampere receptacle circuits ?

A

Answer:

Hi Kelly, Thank you for the question. Section 230.71(B) of the 2020 NEC applies to service equipment generally. If a power outlet in an RV park is service rated equipment and installed as a service, then the requirements in 230.71(B) should be applied. A quick review of Article 551 did not reveal an amendment or modification to that general requirement that provides a relaxation of the rule. Hope this is helpful.
