Question:
Hello CQD and thank you for this excellent Code question forum. We have a question about pull box sizes. The installation is an underground handhole (not a manhole) and there are (3) 6-inch PVC conduits entering one side and leaving on the directly on the opposite side of the handhole enclosure. What is the minimum distance between the conduit entries. These are feeders running straight through the box. The pull boxes is installed due to job specifications.
Thanks for your guidance.

Answer:
Hello Paul, and thanks for the question and comments. This installation, as described in your question, appears to be a straight pull through the underground pull box (handhole) enclosure. Section 314.28(A)(1) requires a minimum of 8 times the diameter of the largest raceway for sizing the enclosure used in a straight pull. 6-inch conduit times 8 results in a pull box that is at lease 48 inches between conduit entries. Hope this information is helpful.
