Question:
Hello.
Is it permissible by Code to install a 10 AWG copper, bare, solid wire in electrical metallic tubing? The tubing is installed on the exterior of a building and there are no conductor fill issues.
Thanks Frank Sauer

Answer:
Hello Frank,
Equipment grounding conductors are permitted to be insulated, covered, or bare. See 250.118(1), which reads as follows: The equipment grounding conductor run with or enclosing the circuit conductors shall be one or more or a combination of the following: (1) A copper, aluminum, or copper-clad aluminum conductor. This conductor shall be solid or stranded; insulated, covered, or bare; and in the form of a wire or a busbar of any shape. In this case, the EMT is also recognized as an equipment grounding conductor in 250.118(4).
