Question:
Good morning, According to my understanding in the code book… A 220 outlet for a car charger that’s mounted outside does not to be need to be GFI protected...is that correct?

Hey Alex thanks for your question. Maybe. If at a dwelling unit then you are correct that GFCI protection is not required because 210.8(A) has a 125 volt receptacle rating. If the receptacle is at other than a dwelling unit GFCI protection is required for single phase receptacles 50 amperes or less and three phase receptacles 100 amperes or less, that are rated at 150 volts to ground or less, as stated in 210.8(B)(4).
