Question:
In a hand hole. Is it within code to have both power (which is spliced) and telecom cables in the same hole or should each have its own hand hole?
Chris Wronski
A
Answer:
Hey Chris thanks for your question. Communication cables and conductors must be separated from other wiring as stated in 800.133(A). There are conditions for certain types of systems where they are allowed in the same enclosure such as if barriers are used or if power circuits are used to supply communication equipment. It's also not a good idea generally because the people servicing the communications systems might not be qualified for the power wiring.
