Question:
Gentlemen, What regulations govern the accuracy of electrical schematics?
Thanks,
Kevin McDermott
A
Answer:
Hey Kevin thanks for your question. It's not clear if you asking about wiring information internal to equipment or about premises wiring systems. Many times, it is the owner's (or their designee) contract which specifies that drawings be updated to match what actually exists for the facilities. Single line diagrams, if provided, must be maintained in a legible condition and be kept current as stated in NFPA 70E, 205.2. Checking up-to-date drawings, diagrams, and identification tags is also included in NFPA 70E,120.5(1).
Unfortunately, a common opinion is that many are not accurate and are not kept up to date.
