Question:
Hello Code Question of the Day.
For a 3-phase load (with no neutral), can each phase be run in a separate conduit? And if so, does each conduit need to be the same size? Asking because an owner would like to reuse two existing conduits, and install a new one. This would be cheaper than demolishing existing AND installing new.

A
Answer:
Hello Curtis,
The general requirements for conductor installations must follow Section 300.3(B) which indicates that all conductors of the same circuit and, where used, the grounded conductor and all equipment grounding conductors and bonding conductors shall be contained within the same raceway, auxiliary gutter, cable tray, cable bus assembly, trench, cable, or cord, unless otherwise permitted in accordance with 300.3(B)(1)through (B)(4).
