Question:
Good Morning,
Can I use an existing 300A/3P/480Y/277V feeder breaker in a remote building to source power to a 400A/3P/480Y/277V breaker in another building or must the breaker be 400A/3P? Kindly provide code reference please?
Kenneth Westberg
A
Answer:
Hello Kenneth.
In the installation described, the overcurrent protection requirements appear to have been met with a 300 ampere overcurrent protective device in the building (at the source) feeding the second building. Section 240.21 would apply.
