Question:
Good Morning,
I read the CQD every day and always pick up some good information. Can Schedule 40 PVC be used to protect a grounding electrode conductor?
Arnold Simms
A
Answer:
Hi Arnold,
Thanks for the comments and participating. Schedule 40 PVC can be used to sleeve grounding electrode conductors however, schedule 80 PVC is rated as impact and crush resistant. Schedule 80 PVC should be used where necessary to protect the GEC from physical damage. See NEC 250.64(B)(2).
