Question:
Hi Code Question of the Day. I know the Code has a certain voltage and ampere rating threshold for when a service requires Ground Fault Protection to keep the equipment from being damaged. Are there similar requirements for feeders? Thanks, Susan B.
A
Answer:
Hello Susan, you are correct, Section 230.95 requires Ground Fault Protection of Equipment (GFPE) for services rated 150V to ground up to 1000V phase to phase, and 1000A or more.
Additionally, the NEC does have similar GFPE requirements for feeders in Section 215.10 and for branch circuits in Section 210.13.
