Question:
Hello CQD,
Where service entrance conductors are routed from equipment outside through a wall to the service equipment inside of the building, are the raceways required to be sealed. An inspector is requiring this on a project, but I can't seem to find the words in the NEC that back up this stance.
Your assistance would be appreciated.

Answer:
Hi Arnold,
Thanks for the question. Section 230.8 indicates that where a service raceway enters a building or structure from an underground distribution system, it shall be sealed in accordance with 300.5(G). Spare or unused raceways shall also be sealed. Sealants shall be identified for use with the cable insulation, shield, or other components.
Hope this is useful.
