Question:
Hello Code Gurus,
When applying the working space rules in Article 110, does the minimum width of space in front of the equipment have to be centered on the equipment?
Peter Hubbard
A
Answer:
Hello Peter,
Thanks for participating. No. The minimum width of working space in front of electrical equipment does not have to be centered on the equipment. The rules indicates "The width of the working space in front of the electrical equipment shall be the width of the equipment or 762 mm (30 in.), whichever is greater. In all cases, the work space shall permit at least a 90 degree opening of equipment doors or hinged panels" Nothing in there about the 30-inch measurement being taken from the center of the equipment.
