Question:
Hello CQD,
I read this post every morning. Great information is provided here. My question is are metal wireways required to be listed? Someone said that the wireways have to be listed, which I presume means one cannot cut a wireway to desired length without impacting the listing? Is this correct?

Answer:
Hi Mark,
Thanks for participating and for your comments. Metal wireways are not required to be listed. Nonmetallic wireways are required to be listed. See Section 378.6. For metallic wireways, they must be installed as a complete system that accomplishes mechanical and electrical continuity. See Section 376.100. Part III of Article 376 provides construction specifications for metal wireways which allows for custom fabricated metal wireways where warranted for certain installations. For listed metal wireways, installation instructions provide direction on cutting wireways to size and then installing appropriately sized covers and dead ends to complete the wiring enclosure.
