Question:
Hello CQD. Do all new GFCI and AFCI receptacles come with stickers stating
“GFCI protected” or
“AFCI protected”? Are these stickers required to be installed on the load side of these devices? I do not recall seeing that specific code requirement in the NEC
®. Thank you, Jim B
A
Answer:
Hi Jim, not sure if all GFCI and AFCI manufacturers provide stickers with thier devices, this would be manfacturer speciofic.
In general the NEC® does not require load-side, downstream protected receptacle devices to be labeled as GFCI/AFCI protected, however Section 406.4(D)(3) Exception requires that a non-grounded receptacle can be replaced with a 3-prong grounded receptacle but the receptacle must be GFCI protected, and it must be marked as “No Equipment Ground” and “GFCI Protected”.
