Message from Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for OSHA

Aug 31, 2020
Thank you for your work to assist communities in the path of Hurricane Laura. Conditions in Louisiana and Southeast Texas remain hazardous for workers who will be restoring power, and performing cleanup and recovery operations. OSHA wants you to stay safe while helping others. The fact that this is happening during a pandemic makes worker safety even more challenging. Please take all necessary precautions to protect your crews from the spread of COVID-19 while they are doing their best to help others. OSHA has resources to help keep workers safe after hurricanes and floods. OSHA’s toll-free number (800-321-6742) is available 24 hours a day. As always, OSHA stands ready to help today and in the coming days as the recovery work commences.

Loren Sweatt, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Occupational Safety and Health
