Question:

Can hard service cord STOOW be used to connect between the driver and the LED fixture.

To complicate matters the contractor wants to install it inside the tubular steel frame of an outdoor canopy about 50’ long.

If this is not allowed (400.8(5)) could he use low voltage landscape lighting cable (he wants stranded conductors, not UF cable).

Answer:

Hey Ed thanks for your question. The answer might be in the instructions included as part of the instructions for the LED luminaire or driver. Listing of those systems is required by 411.4 including specifying the types of cords, cables or conductors permitted with additional wording in 411.5.  Section 400.8 has changed to 400.12 for the 2017 NEC.
