Can a dry-type transformer be installed on a concrete wall in a basement? Does it need any corrosion protection?

Hi Paul,
Thank you for the question. Section 450.13(A) addresses installing dry-type transformers in the open on walls. A transformer can be wall-mounted if designed for such installation. The manufacturer's installation instructions should indicate this. You might want to also visit Sections 110.11 addressing deterioration and specifying identification for use. Also 110.13(B) addresses mounting of equipment to address adequate ventilation and cooling.
