Hey Dirk thanks for your question. Maybe. Intermediate Metal Conduit (IMC), is allowed to be installed in direct contact with the earth - where protection from corrosion that is approved for the condition is provided, as stated in 342.10(B). Approved means acceptable to the AHJ as defined in Article 100. If being installed in low resistivity soil, such as less than 2000 ohm-cm, or based on local experience, additional corrosion protection can be necessary.
