Question:
Hello CQD,
I was looking for the written electrical code 551.71 Part F in recreation. What does it mean? I work a state park and looking to see if we can change our 30a GFCI breakers to just 30a breakers. The GFI's are costing $54 per breaker viruses $9 for the other. Hope you can help out.

Answer:
Richard,
Thanks for the question. This rule requires ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) protection. Replacing GFCI breakers and devices removes the required protection against shock and electrocution of persons. The term ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) is defined in Article 100 of the NEC which helps describe the protection. We suggest leaving the GFCIs installed and contacting a qualified electrical contractor or consulting with the local electrical inspector for additional information.
