Question:
Good Day CQD Personnel.
My Wife and I went into a new Ice Cream shop and the lighting was run in copper plumbing pipe. While it looked very decorative it's not U.L listed for electrical work. How would they pass the inspection if the material is not used for what it's made for?
Greg Fielder
A
Answer:
Hi Greg,
Thank you for your concern about electrical safety. Unfortunately, not all electrical installations are done by qualified electrical contractors or qualified personnel. Often times these types of installations are done after the electrical inspector has completed the final inspection and issued the Certificate of Occupancy. Some jurisdictions offer a complaint process where members of the community can report unsafe installations, and the electrical inspection department will investigate.
