Question:
I have an I-line panelboard with a 70 amp feeder breaker. I am running 125' to a control panel for multple motor control. Do I need over-current protection at the panel for the protection of the feeder conductors?

A
Answer:
Hey Mike thanks for your question. Maybe but you didn't provide the details including conductor sizes. The feeder conductors need to be protected as stated in 240.4 but the overcurrent device can be located at the end of the conductors if they comply with 240.21. The motors and/or motor control circuits also need to be protected as stated in 430.22, 430.24, and 430.72 but it is not clear which situation you have. If this isn't enough please send in more information.
