Question:
Good Morning CQD!
Can a dishwasher over 10 amps and manufactures instructions not requiring a dedicated circuit be allowed on one of the small appliance branch circuits in the kitchen.
Thank you
Mark Ferrigno
A
Answer:
Hi Mark,
The small appliance branch circuits required by Section 210.11(C)(1) are for the receptacle outlets required by 210.52(B). A dishwasher is a specific appliance covered by Article 422 and usually has a nameplate and instructions that require an individual branch circuit. The load on the appliance shall be used in the calculation based on Section 220.14(A). Also the examples in Annex D seem to indicate consistency with this requirement.
Hope this is helpful.
