Does an USB outlet in a residential kitchen need to be GFCI protected? It is NOT a receptacle/USB combo, just USB.

Hi Thomas,
Thanks for participating. Good question. The simple answer is no. The GFCI requirements in Section 210.8(A) for dwelling unit kitchens apply to 125V through 250V receptacles in the locations specified in 210.8(A)(1) through (11) that are supplied by single-phase branch circuits rate 150 volts or less to ground. This requirement currently does not apply to USB devices (without electrical receptacles).
