Question:
Hi. In NEC it clearly states the minimum size equipment grounding conductors for grounding raceway and equipment Table 250.122. Is there a maximum size?
We have a client that is trying to install 20Amp outlet for a car charger and asked us for the maximum size of wire and conduit possible just in case he would buy Tesla in the future.
Could there be a problem with an "overkill"
Thanks, Maggie

Answer:
Hey Maggie thanks for your question. If you increase the size of the ungrounded conductors, from the minimum size that has sufficient ampacity, wire type equipment grounding conductors if installed, must also be increased by the same proportion. There is no problem with increasing the conductor size but make sure the terminations are suitable for the conductors as stated in 110.14.
