Question:

Re: CQD answer published Friday, February 9, 2018 -2 Pole AFCI and 2 Pole GFCI CB's

Thanks for the insight on the GFCI 2 pole breaker as for some reason I didn't think of that when running across multi-wire (12/3 with ground) homeruns in a residence.  Is there a 2 pole AFCI that would work on a 12/3 homerun to arc-fault protect those circuits if needed and then a combo AFCI/GFCI 2 pole breaker available as well?

Jeff Wardyn

A

Answer:

Hey Jeff thanks for your follow up question and the compliment. Yes, there are 2 Pole combination type AFCI circuit breakers available from several manufacturers. There are also 2 Pole GFCI circuit breakers available from several manufacturers. And there are dual function or dual purpose (AFCI & GFCI) 1 Pole circuit breakers but I am not aware of any 2 Pole dual function circuit breakers. If a manufacturer has or plans to have one please send that information in.
