Question:
Thanks for the great work on this Code Forum. My question is about which wiring methods are suitable for use in directional boring installations? The installation is for communications systems, but I'm sure that it is being used to install power circuits. The NEC does not appear to identify the wiring methods that can be used.
Thanks,
Michael Gordon

Answer:
Hi Michael,
Thanks for the comments. Great question. The NEC only requires that the wiring method in directional boring processes be approved as provided in NEC Section 300.5(K). Approved is acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction, as defined in Article 100. High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Conduit is often used in these installation processes, but there is nothing indicated about that use in Section 353.10. Perhaps input from our readers might provide insight.
