Question:
Best Regards CQD.
I read this every morning and really appreciate the insight. My question relates to length of conductors at boxes that is required for connecting switches or receptacles. I remember something about this in trade school, but I've not been able to find the NEC reference for this. Can you help and provide a Code rule?

Answer:
Hi Benny,
Thanks for the comments and your participation. Section 300.14 addresses the minimum length of free conductor required at outlet boxes and reads (in part) as follows: At least 150 mm (6 in.) of free conductor, measured from the point in the box where it emerges from its raceway or cable sheath, shall be left at each outlet, junction, and switch point for splices or the connection of luminaires or devices.
