Question:
Can we use the equipment grounding conductor as a current carrier for a sensing device in a existing structure?
John Kendall
A
Answer:
Hey John thanks for your question. The answer should be No, that would be considered objectionable current as stated in 250.6. But there is an exception to 404.2(C) for switches under certain conditions. Ideally equipment grounding conductors have no current, unless it is ground fault current as stated in 250.6(C).
