Thanks for this Code Forum. In regards to Friday 8/14 answer to breaker tie, if the circuits are 20A, the receptacle will need to be 20A rated when splitting a 15A receptacle now makes a single outlet on the branch circuit see NEC 210.21(B)(1).

Hello Robert,
Thanks for the comment and the question. You are correct. If two individual branch circuits each supply one of the two receptacles of a duplex receptacle and the tabs are broken, making them two separate circuits and separate receptacles, then they would need to be 20-ampere rated. A duplex 15-ampere receptacle would not meet the NEC requirements in this case.
