Question:
Good morning, Thank you for your continuing great work with this forum.
We have a structure that previously was a Place of assembly, with a commercial kitchen. There are changes being made. The changes include removing the kitchen completely and the entire structure will be renovated to be a dormitory with some bathroom facilities. The proposed occupancy of the dormitory will be 106 persons. Is NM cable approved for the new installation?

Answer:
Hey Jeff thanks for your question and the compliment. The answer will be based somewhat on what the building official determines the new occupancy construction type needs to be. NM cable is allowed in structures that are permitted to be of Types III, IV, or V construction, under the conditions given, as stated in 334.10(3).
