Question:
Greetings Code Friends,
Is an aluminum grounding electrode conductor permitted by the NEC?
Peter Gross
A
Answer:
Hi Peter,
The simple answer is yes. See Sections 250.62 and 250.64(A) which includes some restrictions for aluminum or copper-clad aluminum conductors within 18 inches of the earth. Table 250.66 is used for sizing grounding electrode conductors and includes copper, aluminum, and copperclad aluminum sizes.
Hope this is useful.
