Question:
Good morning, Code Friends. There is a restaurant that currently has a 200A panel, with a 100A sub-panel. Could I feed a 3-phase 320/400A meter with two (2) sets of paralleled 2/0 THHN. From the meter then feeding one (1) 200A and one (1) 100A panel to increase my capacity? Regards, Leo Doucette

Answer:
Hello Leo, thanks for your question. Two (2) sets of paralleled 2/0 THHN conductors would be rated anywhere from 290A - 390A depending on the temperature rating of the terminations. The service entrance conductors supplying the metering equipment would need to be sized based on the load being served, as calculated using Part II and III or IV of Article 220.
