Question:

Hello CQD, I have a question regarding 250.98. I have been told this code requirement for ensuring continuous continuity between expansion joints/fittings is for runs without a ground wire. Is that correct, or is this required whether an equipment grounding conductor is installed in the raceway or not? Thanks, Robert Spitzer

Answer:

Hi Robert, thanks for participating. Section 250.98 does not specify a method for accomplishing the required bonding, leaving it up to the installer to determine the best method for compliance. If the equipment grounding conductor also accomplishes the required bonding of both section of metal raceway on each side of the expansion fitting, then the intent of Section 250.98 would be met.
