Question:
Hello Code Question of the Day. I am hoping you can settle an argument between me and one of my colleagues. I believe using Flexible Nonmetallic Liquid-Tight is permitted for hot tubs. My co-worker is insistent that it is permitted but it is limited in length to 8ft. Neither of us have been able to find this in the NEC. Is this wiring method permitted, and is the length limited? Thanks, Steve Nash

Answer:
Hi Steve, thanks for the question. The
NEC®, by way of Section 680.42(A)(1), used to limit the use of nonmetallic flexible liquidtight conduit to lengths of 6ft. This limitation was removed in the 2014 edition of the
NEC® and has existed with out a length restriction ever since.
