Question:
Hello Charlie. What code section(s) permits the reidentification of a white wire in a cable, and used as an ungrounded conductor, attached to a breaker for a 240V circuit (like A/C Condensers)? Thank you, Andrew Dubbis
A
Answer:
Hi Andrew, thank you for participating. Section 200.7(C)(1) permits a white insulated conductor that is part of a cable assembly, to be permanently reidentified indicating use as an ungrounded conductor on circuits of 50 Volts or more. The marking can be marking tape, painting, or other effective means. The marking needs to be done at terminations, and at each location where the conductor is visible and accessible.
